The next time Hoda Kotbe on 'The Today Show' tries to sell me on a 'humorous and riveting' mystery novel, I plan to ignore her. This attempt at a book was like reading a 'Baby Sitters Club' mystery -- all telling, no great plot devices, characters whose 'quirks' and 'personalities' are described over and over on repeat. This was a waste of my time.

This book is a somewhat trashy and very quick read. One of those 'Law and Order' attempts to translate to paper back mystery books. It was mostly cringeful, yet I still find myself reading the sequel. I mean seriously, Gretchen Lowell has escaped from prison! And no doubt Archie will be stupid enough once again to fall under her spell. Heh.

I don't actually know exactly why I bothered to read this, given my opinion on 'Heartsick' -- the first of the Gretchen Lowell books. In many ways, this second book is even sillier -- more implausible and even a bit boring.
