This book is far from a great piece of literature -- it's actually rather contrived and downright silly at times -- but I read it in a few hours and while it was cliche and over the top, it held my interest enough that I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars.

This book was just bizarre enough that it kept me from making fun of it. I gave it 3 stars because it is clever and just so, so weird. Unlike the typical 'ghost stories' I have read recently, this book brought me back to the days of middle school sleep overs when we would light candles and use flash lights to scare each other with creepy stories in the middle of the night. I also like the references to music, especially since this book was written *after* the Nirvana song.

I've seen Scottoline numerous times on Court TV so I was wary of reading this book fearing that it would be a trashy crime read. Fortunately, it wasn't at all trashy. Not as good as watching an episode of Law and Order but still it was a complete page turner and definitely worth my time.
